You don’t always have to travel far to get great beer. Located about 45 minutes west of DC sits Loudoun County, Virginia, home to 21 breweries! They are all worth checking out and today we are checking out Belly Love Brewing.
Located in a shopping center just outside of downtown Purcellville, Belly Love has all sorts for great things for your (beer) belly.
As you can see they’ve got five year rounds and several seasonals. Many have been crafted to remove gluten, which I’m seeing a lot of these days.
Brews To Choose
- Year rounds: 50 Shades of Gold is an amazing Belgian strong. It clocks in at 9% but is really smooth and doesn’t taste like it. Their IPA, My Bitter X was also tasty and the Eye of Jupiter (is it a myth pun or a space pun or both?) is a solid oatmeal stout.
- Seasonals: the 50 Shades of Gold + was the MVP of the trip. They take their Belgian strong and flavor it with kaffir lime, ripe mango, and habanero pepper. I’m also skeptical of beers that add heat because it often overpowers the rest of the flavors, but the heat here is subtle and mostly in the finish.
They do flights of everything so go ahead and do that (my buddy Jake and I did):
They’ve also got some interesting stuff on the food menu – I’d recommend the jerk chicken nachos. Go check it out and give your belly some love soon!
